North Shore’s ‘Chicago’ delivers a kinetic kick By Don Aucoin THE BOSTON GLOBE September 26, 2014
“Rounding out the strong trio of lead performers is Sean McDermott as the raffish, calculating defense lawyer Billy Flynn. McDermott’s Billy is more a wheedler than a charmer; for Billy, the dollar is indeed almighty.”

Sean McDermott delivers everything you hope for from Billy Flynn, including a sensational singing voice and deft comedy interactions with Parcells in some hilarious courtroom scenes.”
NSMT’s Swanky New CHICAGO Is a Real Killer by Jan Nargi BROADWAY WORLD October 5
“McDermott cuts a dashing figure as the unscrupulous but affable mouthpiece Billy Flynn. He has just the right amount of infuriating masculine swagger tempered by a lady-killing 100-watt smile. He’s also an excellent song and dance man who maneuvers his way through the tricky “We Both Reached for the Gun” and “Razzle Dazzle” with effortless charm.”
A killer show at NSMT – Brilliant ‘Chicago’ captivates theatre-in-round audience By Sean Leonard THE DAILY ITEM September 26, 2014
“Actor Sean McDermott, whose Broadway credits include Miss Saigon (Chris), razzle-dazzles in every way as the smarmy yet brilliant defense attorney Billy Flynn. McDermott and Parcells play perfectly off one another and with impeccable comedic timing.”
NSMT’s ‘Chicago’: Murder was never this much fun By Rich Fahey ON BOSTON STAGES September 29, 2014
“McDermott as Billy Flynn exudes the humor and the hubris of a defense attorney who doesn’t see innocence or guilt, just the number of zeroes at the end of the check, has no morals and will do anything to win.”

Sean McDermott is marvelous as the money grubbing lawyer, Billy Flynn who gets his clients acquitted for $5000. His first entrance stops the show with his “All I Care About” as he dances with the chorus girls, displaying Billy is a womanizer, too. Sean’s second act number is “Razzle Dazzle” where he explains the judicial system is like a circus, you can get away with anything. This song is one of the best harmonic blends with the chorus dressed in colorful circus outfits. His terrific baritone voice soars in his numbers and he also shines in the puppet number “We Both Reached for the Gun” where he uses his own voice and a ventriloquist’s voice with Roxie on his lap as he sings her answers to the reporters. The chorus does an energetic Charleston during it. Sean handles the role with the panache it needs and is one of the best Billy Flynn’s I’ve seen after the incomparable Jerry Orbach.
“As Billy Flynn, the lawyer who makes a living representing these Cook County Jail criminals, Sean McDermott has just the right blend of cockiness and suavity to make his character lovable. And what a voice!”
“Sean McDermott, last seen at Lyric as Billy Bigelow in Carousel, demonstrated his talents well as the conniving attorney for the murderesses, Velma and Roxie. He was a wonderfully slimy, underhanded, egotistical, handsome criminal attorney as he preyed on the women who commit murder. His fan dance routine with the chorus girls was hysterical and the press conference scene was a standout.”

“As shyster lawyer Billy Flynn, Sean McDermott brings a strong voice and some fine comic touches to the part, whether performing ‘All I Care About’ or bringing the house down in the courtroom scene with ‘Razzle Dazzle’. He is superb in the press conference as he becomes a puppet-master.”
